ReachOn 01 June 2007 the European Regulation No. 1907/2006/EU concerning the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals – REACH) entered into force. According to this regulation the production or import of chemical substances in volumes exceeding 1 ton per annum must be registered in the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) situated in Helsinki. The REACH registration concerns substances and not preparations /formulations of substances/. The production, import and marketing of REACH substances will be restricted to the ones which have registration files. REACH charges the industry with the responsibility to provide safety information about the substances and the correct management of the risks arising from their use. One of the REACH requirements is that the producers must register all legally existing substances (either individually or in preparations) which they produce or import in quantities of more than one ton per annum. |
